Hubby asked if I wanted half a sandwich, how can that be, however many times you cut a sandwich it is still a sandwich...... isn't it????

I would understand that to be 2 slices of bread sandwiched together with a filling in the middle and he was offering you half of it.

Still a sandwich, but cut it too small and I would no longer call it a sandwich.

I agree, a plate of small sandwiches for genteel parties are still sandwiches.
