I know several of you use Amazon, so I hope someone can help. Personally I have always avoided using them, but OH has been given a gift token for his birthday and I am at my wits end trying to open an account.

Every time I get so far and then it comes up and says I have used that before on another account. The latest is OH's mobile no. I have been trying to contact them but everything requires me to log in first, for customer service, and that is the problem!! :-S. I am not a customer.

Please can someone give me an email address for them. It's probably something obvious like "customerservice@-------- or "enquiries@-------"

Thank you very much to anyone who can help.

Andys mum, if you go to Amazon, find what you want and then go to checkout. It will have a section where you can add the gift card.
This will then be deducted from the amount you have spent. Sometimes you may be lucky and get free postage so worth having a good look around first.

I dont think you need an account as you just have to put your add details in etc when you checkout.

Try and see and let us know if it works.

if you spend more than the gift cards value, you can pay the difference by debit card

I found a phone number if you wish to speak to someone there, but I don’t know how up to date it is. The number is 020 7084 7911. It’s a London number.

Sounds interesting, Florence. On the gift card it says you have to redeem it by opening an account!!! Also, OH wants to use it for his Kindle, which also has to be registered to his account. If noone coms up with an email, I'll give your idea a try.

I was about to say the same as Ann. If your OH downloads books to his kindle he must have an Amazon account, unless it is an E-reader he has rather than a kindle.

He has only just bought the kindle and can't download books at the moment because he hasn't got an account.

I did some googling and found that Amazon doesn't have an email for public use any more and people are not complimentary about ringing them on the various numbers but I shall obviously have to try.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll let you know how I get on.

sorry andysMum but are you saying your OH bought his kindle from Amazon, I thought that was only place that you could buy it. But that doesn't make sense, surely they can't sell a kindle to somebody and then that person can't download books.

I think my brain is a bit confused. But I hope you manage to make contact.

You say -
"Every time I get so far and then it comes up and says I have used that before on another account"

Used what before? Email address? Password?

Amazon obviously thinks (knows) you already have an account.
Have you tried logging in, rather than trying to open a new account?

Try with all possible email addresses, and click "Forgotten password" or whatever the wording is, and see which address you get a response on.
Then re-set the password.

AG it varies! I have managed to get it to accept an email address and a password, but then it said the phone no. is already in use. As far as I know, neither OH nor I have ever had an Amazon account, so we can't log in!! Actually, thinking about it, I might try logging in with the details it did accept and see if I can bypass the mobile no. I don't hold out much hope though.

Ann, he bought his kindle at the local shop which sells all sorts of gadgets. There are several places round here where you can get tablets, i-pads etc. but you then have to set them up yourself.
