So sorry to hear your sad news.

Take heart that your mother in law gave you her last great gift, a wonderful day to remember.

Hold on to the good memories.

I am so sorry to hear this news Tawny, it was obviously more of a shock as you had all been so recently happy together. Take comfort from that. Please allow yourself to grieve openly, even though Mr Owl doesn't easily show his feelings, I am sure he will appreciate that you are grieving too. Tears are healing and, as has been said, we all grieve differently, there is no rehearsal for it and no time limit.so be kind to yourself while being a support to Mr Owl. Sending you a hug and letting you know I am thinking of you. <3

Aw Tawny, how sad and such a shock for you all.

But you had a lovely afternoon all together so take that and remember those happy hours.

Im sure in the coming days you will be supporting each other and grieving together but for Mr Owl, hes still in shock I guess and may not want to talk to anyone but he will.

Thinking of you all <3

Thank you ladies. It is the first time one of us has lost a parent. Mr Owl’s biological father died in 1983 when Mr Owl was seven months old but he was too young to know anything. His dad has been in his life since he was five years old and they could not be closer if they were related by blood. My father in law’s daughter (Mr Owls’s stepsister) is staying with her dad just now. Mr Owl will tell you he has the heart of a swinging brick and expressing his feelings doesn’t come easy to him so I’ve let him know I’m here if he wants to talk and if he wants anything from me just to ask. <3

Tawny, I am so sorry for your family's loss, especially as it was such a shock.
Mr. Owl, like you will be trying to make sense of such a sudden change in his mother's health, but how lovely that you had such a special time together on Sunday.
He might not be ready to talk, but I would encourage you not to grieve alone. You need to be together and support one another in the days ahead.
Thinking of you and Anna's family.

Tawny, I am so sorry for your loss.
Try not to be in a hurry, Mr Owl knows you are there for him so don't try to 'hold it together for him'. You are grieving too and it is barely a day.
We all react differently to the loss of a loved one, there are absolutely no rules.
All I can say, having been bereaved, is take it a day at a time, hour by hour, minute by minute.
Once again, I'm sorry for your loss - and you don't owe anyone here any apologies <3

I’m so sorry to hear this. It must have been such a shock for you all. Try and take comfort from the fact that she had a happy afternoon with you and her son and would have known how much she was loved. Bursting into tears at odd moments is natural. Give Mr Owl all the support you can and grieve together. Tears are healing. Thinking of you, Mr Owl and his father and sending a very gentle hug <3

Apologies all for off loading but I can’t talk to Mr Owl. Mr Owl’s mum my beloved mother in law died today completely unexpectedly at the age of 71.

It was mother in law (Anna) birthday on Saturday but I was working till 10pm so we said we would go down on Sunday afternoon. Mr Owl picked me up from work at around 2.30pm and we spent the afternoon an enjoyable afternoon with his parents and Anna cooked dinner. We received a phone call from his dad at 4am to say his mum had suspected sepsis and was getting blue lighted to their nearest hospital. Mr Owl didn’t want me with him but he phoned just over an hour later (hospital is 40 miles from us) to say Anna had hours left he then phoned to say she was gone. I don’t know what to think at the moment as I keep bursting into tears at random intervals. I’m trying to keep it together for Mr Owl.

Anna had Neuroendocrine Tumours (NETs) and was receiving palliative care but we were told this could still go on for over a year so it came as shock when we got the call.
