I never came across them in pubs here at all, Belle.

It’s true, we learn something every day. :-)

This is what Google says

Arrowroot biscuits, particularly
McVitie's Thin Arrowroot, were a nostalgic and common snack served in pubs, often given to children with a lemonade or sold from a jar on the bar. While no longer standard in most pubs today, the classic biscuits are still available to purchase in shops for home consumption.

:-D :-D :-D :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 5 Nov 2025 19:45

Maybe Belle. I can’t recall seeing Arrowroot biscuits in pubs here at all and I’d be going into them then.

Perhaps it was a southern thing then Joy :-D....it would be nearly 60 years ago :-D

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 5 Nov 2025 19:40

I think back then there were plain crisps with the little blue packet of salt and that was it :-D :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 5 Nov 2025 19:39

Never heard of a pub doing that Belle. :-)

LondonBelle

LondonBelle Report 5 Nov 2025 19:38

Back then I seem to recall there was a big jar of arrowroot biscuits on the bar :-D

JoyLouise

JoyLouise Report 5 Nov 2025 19:36

Love that, Belle. An arrowroot biscuit in place of a packet of crisps or nuts!

My hubby when he was young use to work in a pub and this guy would come in with his dog and order a pint for himself, half a pint for his dog plus an arrowroot biscuit :-D :-D :-D

JoyLouise Report 5 Nov 2025 19:31

LondonBelle Report 5 Nov 2025 19:31

Fly has taken little Fly to the pub as it is firework free and has 2 foot thick walls....hopefully that will help him along with his medication :-) <3

A fox. I have heard that they sometimes scavenge in people’s gardens.

Never had one here but we have had an otter trot through one way in the morning thenretraced his steps in the afternoon. Never lay down though.
