Christmas cards

We have really had nothing to go back for. my brother came out in the mid-sixties and my father came out in 1973 after the death of my mother. When we decided to emigrate, there were no really close relations left in the UK. OH is an only child and by 1975 both of her parents had passed :-(

Both of our children were born in the UK

We went to Oz in 1977 and returned to the UK in 1987 for my OH’s work, Allan. In that ten years we returned to the UK twice for special occasions.

My son who was UK-born has never been back but my daughter who was born in Oz is returning with her family for Christmas this year. It will be her first visit since leaving and they are all looking forward to it.

JoyLouise, it costs 65cents to send a Christmas card within Oz , compared to the normal internal letter cost of $1.70 (small letter)

Our daughter has just arrived back from the UK :-D

She was there for four weeks and it was her first visit back since we left in 1982. OH and myself have never been back.

I know what you mean Joan. There comes a time ......

Allan, our 'regular' sized cards are 87 p second class to send within the UK. First class is £1.70. (I sent one larger size but only just over the regular size, second class, to London, and it cost £1.55.) Needless to say, I sent none first class!

How much are they charging you to send within Oz?

Daughter and family going back to the land of her birth for Christmas, Allan. She has never been back since we lived there. <3

JoyLouise, yes, but please define "cheaper"

Names, at our retired colleagues’ get-together in mid-November everyone passed out Christmas cards. I thought it was too early and, although I had them, I had not given a thought to writing any out so soon.

Allan, think yourself lucky. £3.40 from UK to Oz. I only had two to send as others send greetings via email now, thank goodness. Does Oz still have a special cheaper Christmas card charge, by the way?

Sent One to the UK this week. Postage was $3.00:-(

Strangely, OH and myself received a phone call from my brother (also this week) asking for my new address. I say OH and myself as for some reason my brother always uses OH's phone number first, then mine when OH doesn't answer :-0. Presumably he wants to send us a Christmas Card

I used the word strangely as it was only a couple of weeks ago that he physically visited us, so must have our address somewhere about him.

They’ve already started arriving and it was only yesterday that I went to check to see how many I needed.
