I've had an invitation to a wedding next year and it states black suits and ties for the men and black dresses for the ladies. I look like Morticia from The Adams Family in black. I don't know what the bride will be wearing but I don't think we'll need colour photographs! |

I'm afraid I would turn down the invitation because I never wear dresses - only trousers. |

I'd be tempted to use non-black accessories, and have a bright scarf you can wear from time to time. |

I’ve heard of colour themes for guests at weddings but black for the ladies is a but extreme. |

Surely it is not easy to find black dresses to buy this time of year. Still if the wedding is next year maybe you will find something in autumn. Do you know the bride well. It would be interesting to know her thinking re the black. |

I personally think it's NOT OK to dictate what guests wear. |

That’s ridiculous, Sheila, you have to give people time to sort out something like that. |

I would not attend personally, I would not be told what or what not to wear to any occasion |

Just thinking that this could be more of a mess than intended. |

I didn't give an opinion earlier but I think the same as many of you. I don't like being told what I can or cannot wear. It's my nephew's wedding so I'll have to go, I don't want to upset my lovely sister-in-law but I'll do it grudgingly with a shocking pink hat, bag and shoes as accessories. It'll look more like a funeral. |

Every year there seems to be a 'such-and-such is the new black'. |
