Hi my name is Julie Hall nee Cassidy,am 38 years old,married with one beautiful son. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who can help trace my family history. My parents are called John Cleasby Cassidy(born 21/08/1943) and Yvonne Marie Cassidy( nee Kell born 7/2/1946). My father's parents died when he was young and I believe his father was either Thomas/Tom , maybe a carpenter and may have served in the first world war. His mother was I believe Rebecca Graveling and that was why my sister was called Mandy Rebecca.One of them was Catholic and one was Salvation Army the latter being my Grandma Cassidy I believe. Just before Christmas I wrote to one of his sisters Dorrie Wind(nee Cassidy) and after to one of his Nephews Sonny Underwood but have had no replies. My father also has sisters Kathleen Kirkley (this is Aunty Kath's second married name) and Jean Heslop. He has a sister who died who was the mother of Sonny, Tom and Terry plus a brother who died ,George, who was connected to working at PitHouse Brandon Durham. I am trying to find out about my Grandma and Grandad Cassidy as I don't really know anything about them and have never seen any pictures plus try to find out about the families on both sides as I have only met one person from my Grandma Cassidy's side in passing in Durham when I was with my father and he thought I was my mother. I believe they all came from Brandon,query lived at Langley Moor Durham at some point but am not sure.I do know that his brother George brought him up when his parents died and believe they lived at Redwood Flats Brandon. I'm sure my father talked of an Uncle Jim who worked at Framwellgate Moor Fire Station, a relation called Pat ,relation called Caroline or Catherine who I nursed on a Ward at Dryburn Hospital, Durham without knowing we were related at the time,and, I think we had a relative living at Ushaw Moor Durham who's wife was Betty. My mother and father got married in Gretna Green 24/03/1964 and lived I believe in Hatfield,Welwyn Garden City where my sister and brother Paul were born and then were living in Newton Aycliffe I believe when I was born in October 1968. Eventually we moved to Eggleston Close ,Newton Hall, Durham. I'm doing a Family Tree not only for myself but for my Son and trying to accquire knowledge about my ancestors who I've descended from. My father has said he believe's we are also related to one of 'The Likely Lads' ie Rodney Bewes( ? correct spelling). My mother's father was Raymond Kell who was a Cobbler in Claypath Durham and had a brother George who married May ( nee ? ) and they had three children Heather,Leslie and Raymond I believe.Her father came from Kell Crescent,Sherburn Hill Durham I believe, lived at Bowburn at some point, query above the Cobbler's shop and then at Bek Road,Newton Hall ,Durham. I believe his father was also called Robert and his mother May ( nee Edwards) and that the latter Great Grandma Kell was related to a family of the name Davies. My Grandma Kell ie Dorothy ( nee Dawson) I also know little about her family but I know she had a sister called Mary( a teacher) who was married to Danny living in their bungalow at the top of Coxhoe ,County Durham but believe they may have moved after Grandma died.Not sure if she also had a sister Joan who lived at Bowburn, Durham who I visited at least on one occasion the latter had two children a boy and a girl .Jacqueline had kidney failure and had to have dialysis.There was also a brother Morris ( query right spelling) who I believe travelled the world before he died. I believe my Grandma Kell's mother was also a teacher and came from/ born in ,query, Aberdeen possible Davis Clan. Grandma Kell had three children which survived ie my mother , her sister Dorothy and a brother Robert ( Bob).I believe there was another little boy ? also named Robert who didn't live very long and is buried somewhere near Bowburn. If there is any one who can help me with all this please get in touch as there is only so much my Aunty Dorothy knows on the Kell side of things. I don't speak with my parents anymore after what they did to me and my son/family after he was born and up till the final straw over his first birthday, weekend of verbal abuse off my father and how he tried to attack my husband I believe all caused by my mother therefore the Cassidy side of things has now become very difficult to accquire information from query why my Aunty Dorrie and Cousin Sonny have not replied.
