hi again tina, yes i know what you mean, we had to move 50 miles away to get him into a school with a good unit for autism and aspergers untill he was 13 he had not really been settled in any school, but since he went to this one he has gone most days and hopefully going on to collegeif it wasnt for this school, i dont know what id have done, although he has left school now and has made friends its still hard going but he has learnt to converse better , and he spells better than me lol. |

hi tina it took 13 years to get a diagnosis confirmed , but in the meantime i still recived help, from DLA , if you can get his teacher to write a statement about his needs at school and how he behaves, and visit your CAB the care component is there for parents who have to care more than normal for a child of a certain age, like being frequently woke in the night etc, problems at meal times , cooking special food, if you want to ask anything or want to chat just pm me and i will give you my e mail addy. this is a horrible illness and if i havent done already you could easily lose your mind over the stress it causes , love lorraine puss x |

I feel a caution was a little hard, after all he has a recorded problem and that should have been taken into consideration. I hope your son can continue to explore things without any more unfortunate problems. Kathlyn |

and he understood. Ive just recently allowed my nearly 16yr old son with aspergers to stay over in the next village 7 miles away with a friend, unfortunatley my son got hungry and walked in to somerfields and took 2 pork pies of the shelf and ate them, when the security guard asked him why he took them, he replied im hungry, couldn't be more literal than that could he, we explained when the security guy called we picked him up, and the police said 1st offence , and because of the aspergers he was let of with a caution, thank god. |
