sounds yum, I love sausage and mash and onion gravy, the best sausage you can buy at the time of course. Today for lunch we had, bacon egg and tinned tomatoes on toast. Because we have not had a fry up like this for yonks, it tasted delicious. Sometimes have been out to a posh restaurant and spent a fortune, and not enjoyed it as much as home cooking. The best meals I ever had were the ones cooked by my mum, when we came home from school in the winter, cold and wet. Shepherds pie, egg and chips, roast dinner, simply but not beaten. Joy

That sounds a great meal! It made me laugh because it reminded me about something our friends and then neighbours did a few years ago. The husband had gone to an auction and on the spur of the moment bought a really old gramophone record player and a whole load of old records from about the 1920s and 1930s. They decided we ought to have a posh party to use them and we were some of the friends who were sent a lovely formal invitation with request to dress appropriately. My husband borrowed a top hat and monacle and I wore a long dress and an ancient fur coat my mother had left me. Everyone was really dressed up and our hostess had laid the table beautifully with place cards and candles and a pretty corsage for each of the ladies. We sat down for dinner and were then presented with........ faggots, mash and mushy peas followed by spotted dick and custard! LOL It was all very tasty and a good laugh. Sadly the friend who bought the gramophone died last month but this happy thread made me remember him with a smile! :) Thanks Sue
