I'm ex-directory, so I immediately say 'where did you get this number?' then I tell them I'm ex-directory and ask them to take me off their list. never had a problem, they always say 'ok' and put the phone down :-) Maz. XX ps cos I've been ex-dir for so long I only get cold calls once in a blue moon thankfully.

I have caller display and if I don't recognise a number I don't answer anymore. It drives me crazy!! When are these people going to learn if I want a new kitchen, bathroom, bedroom fitting, windows, mortgage, re-mortgage, insurance (home), insurance (car), credit card, home improvements loan, guttering and soffits or anything else........I will contact THEM!!!! lol I also opted for the Telephone Preference Service, which is free with BT. Has stopped a lot of the 'cold calling'.... Nanna-Moo ;-))

I had three yesterday too, all for a 'Mrs Radleigh' whoever she is! I have at least 5 /week for this lady...I tell them no-one of that name lives here so they then try to sell ME the loan....What they struggle to understand is that I DON'T WANT ONE! I try so hard to be polite...6 weeks I have had this number and my patience is going. I have phoned all the relevant bodies to stop this, all to no-avail. Tina x

I usually just tell them to 'Bugger Off' it seems to work. Hal.

Probably Daffodil, but there is one other which really works. first find out the telephone number of the MD.of the company who is annoying you, then wait untill about 2 or 3 in the morning and ring him up telling him that you, under no cicumstances wish to buy his products, and to stop calling you,(giving him your telephone number). It does work because I did it to a well known double glazing company,I never ever had a call from them again. Hal.

i love cold calls. means i get to try out some of my best excuses. 1. Scream loudly and put phone down 2. tell them i am a housekeepr as they are emigrating to various parts of the world 3. try to order a pizza. confuses the hell out of them... i have asked one lady caller to marry me as 'i cant give my details to people i cant trust'.... she just hung up
