I was just talking to my son yesterday, and saying much the same as your Dad Dawnie....when you have your parents, whatever age you are....you are always the child.....once they pass, you suddenly realise that you are ....as he would say....top of the pile......and it certainly makes you think about life.... When doing genealogy research, you are mainly dealing with people who have passed....and again it makes you think of how fleeting life is.....and how we must all make the best of the time we have.... One thing I heard on the telly this morning,.....a lady described as elderly.....and she was 61.......no way could you describe me, or my friends who are around my age old.....let alone elderly.....blimmin cheek.....

There is still one of dads cousins alive, otherwise my sister and I and our cousins are top of the heap. The father of a 3rd cousin in England died recently. He was only 9 days older than me, although a different generation. Made me feel a bit vulnerable, after all I am 71. But I intend to live a long time yet, too many things to do.
