If anyone is interested about refund of bank charges google 'Martins Money' there is a 'standard' letter on there you can download, just change it to fit what you want refunded. Haven't done it myself yet but going to, Barclays have charged us for stuff I don't even know what they are on about!! Kim |

hi, i took my bank to court and reclaimed all my charges for the past 6yrs. dont just claim the difference over the £12 they can charge - claim for all of it. i was advised not to take an out of court settlement or a sum (part of your charges) - accept it as part payment only and take to court for the rest of it. i did it all using the consumer action website - they have letter templates for you to use. i sent the 1st letter with a £10 cheque to cover the cost of them getting a copy of my statements for the last 6rys. once they arrived i worked out how much they had taken and then sent the 2nd letter asking for them to pay me XXXXXX that they had taken in charges etc, they have 40 days to reply. they didnt reply so i sent letter 3 which states that they have 14days to reply or i will be taking court action against them - i got a reply saying they had put it in the hands of the lawyer. i paid the court fees, sent the letter telling them it had gone to court..... .....and i won and got all costs including original £10, cost of stamps to send letters, charges and the court fees paid. dont just threaten with court action do it. |

In an attempt to settle the case, NatWest has refunded Mr Brennan's penalty charges, and offered to pay him £1,500 extra if he does not take the case to court. Mr Brennan has refused to accept this and is pursuing his claim for exemplary and aggravated damages to punish the bank for what he claims was the unlawful seizure of his money, causing him economic harm. The court hearing, which will now take place on 30 April, will not be a hearing of the full case. It will be to establish, first of all, whether Mr Brennan does in fact have the right to claim these extra damages. |

Carol, my son is 20 ,he used this site ,its got pre-set letters ,advice everything .He just followed their directions and the bank paid up. What they are doing is illegal and they have admitted it would cost them too much money to go to court because if they lost everyone would find out. It took about 3 months. Please let me know how you get on if you decide to do the same. x Kim |

I think this is a ground-breaking case.If he wins it could start a new precident. If he loses he will have to pay costs and he'll be bankcrupt and will be struck off. (no work = no money) The bank have offered him several out of court settlements (the last was substancially more than they charged him.) This young man certainly seems to be principled.I hope he wins. Viv |

Thanks Lilly, Hi Newby, We had a lot of bank charges in the past, some for amounts as small as 5 which we were charged 30 for. I kept on top of money well when graeme was in Iraq but now hes back and earned with TA for 3 months there has been an army pay prob, they owe him over 800. I told the bank they werent interested and added charges,I hate the banks, Caz x |

To day a young Solicitor was taking a very well known Bank to Court, as the young Solicitor wanted to reclaim back his Bank Charges, he had paid, when he was at Uni........ Just wondering if anyone had heard how he got on, I can't find it on any web sites at the moment, I reckon, the Bank settled out of court or just didn't turn up. Any one know????, just interested really......Lilly |
