This is an Irish Folk song that my Dad requested to be played at his wake to photo's of his life last year.............its obviously has great meaning to me The Old Man The tears have all been shed now We´ve said our last goodbyes His soul´s been blessed laid to rest... And as now I feel alone He was more than just a father a teacher, my best friend And he´ll still be heard in the tunes we shared when we played them on our roam... I never will forget him For he made me what I am Though he may be gone Memories linger on... And I miss him the old man As a boy he´d take me walking by mountain, field and stream and he´d show me things not known to kings and secrets between him and me like the colors of the pheasant as he rises in the dawn and how to fish and make a wish beside the holy dream Oh and I will never forget him For he made me what I am Though he maybe gone Memories linger on And I miss him the old man I thought he´d live forever He seemed so big and strong But the minutes fly and the years roll by For a father and a son And suddenly when it happened there was so much left unsaid no second chance to tell him thanks for everything he´s done... Oh and I will never forget him For he made me what I am Though he maybe gone Memories linger on And I miss him the old man |

'A Thousand Miles' Making my way downtown Walking fast Faces pass And I'm home bound Staring blankly ahead Just making my way Making a way Through the crowd And I need you And I miss you And now I wonder.... If I could fall Into the sky Do you think time Would pass me by 'Cause you know I'd walk A thousand miles If I could Just see you Tonight It's always times like these When I think of you And I wonder If you ever Think of me 'Cause everything's so wrong And I don't belong Living in your Precious memories 'Cause I need you And I miss you And now I wonder.... If I could fall Into the sky Do you think time Would pass me by 'Cause you know I'd walk A thousand miles If I could Just see you Tonight And I, I Don't want to let you know I, I Drown in your memory I, I Don't want to let this go I, I Don't.... Making my way downtown Walking fast Faces pass And I'm home bound Staring blankly ahead Just making my way Making a way Through the crowd And I still need you And I still miss you And now I wonder.... If I could fall Into the sky Do you think time Would pass us by 'Cause you know I'd walk A thousand miles If I could Just see you... If I could fall Into the sky Do you think time Would pass me by 'Cause you know I'd walk A thousand miles If I could Just see you If I could Just hold you Tonight Heather x |

I know it's perhaps cliched - Brian Kennedy does a fantastic version of 'You Raise Me Up.' It helped me through my illness. Ails x |

'Railway Hotel' sung by the Fureys (see your other thread!) and 'Danny Boy' which we had played at mum's funeral , it was one of her favourites and I can't hear it now without crying. |
