Me, I stayed over night at Carew Castle but I didn't see anything, just heard other people making monkey noises lol The story goes that one of the owners of Carew Castle had a pet monkey who he spent alot of time with, the owner then married and as a newly wed spent most of his time with his bride. The monkey became jealous and killed the mans wife, so the man killed the monkey and the monkey is said to haunt the castle. For the record Carew Castle is said to be one of the most haunted places in Britain. There is also a house built on the grounds of the castle that used to be a coach house. It is meant to be haunted by a little boy that was run over by one of the coaches. I know the people that own the house and have stayed there quite a few times and it is creepy, I didn't see anything but the lady that owns it's daughter has, they have named him bouncer as his sits on the end of the beds. I stayed in a large manor house called Honeycombe house in Devon- now part of a holiday complex I believe. When my family & I stayed there, the owners were having the place renovated, so therer were floorboards up, digging in the grounsds etc. Well, our cats wouldn't go upstairs on their own. The 8 week oldkitten was found stuck in an alcove, 20ft up, above a doorway - then disappeared. Horse skeletons were dug up and I heard the sound of horses hooves on the drive - never thought anything of it at the time (I was 8). The bedroom my sister & I shared was always icy cold - it was the summer, and a woman who lived in what was the servant quarters killed herself. Unfortunately (or fortunately) unlike my children, I have absolutely no psychic abilities/awareness, and it is only telling other people I realise just how spooky it should have felt!! lol maggie |

My last house was haunted we lived there for 28yrs, one day my daughter and me were the only ones home and the door of the lounge banged shutt it wasnt a windy day and no other doors or windows were open,we had to phone her boyfriend to come and get us out.he had to take the door off.we passed the front door key to him through the window ,we couldnt climb out of it not enough room. our ghost was quite friendly,we reckoned she was having an off day. we regularly heard someone go up or down the stairs ,and one time myeldest boy asked who was up in his bedroom moving furniture about,he was in the room below it,i said no one is ,we heard all this noise ,so we went to investigate ,had a friend staying at the time ,he pushed me up the stairs---typical male---frightened of the unknown--well there was nothing there ,so down we came off the noise went again ,i said thats it im not going anymore.we looked outside ,nothing, when we were in london some years previous my sil was babysitting and she heard footsteps on the stairs, got up to see if one of the kids had come down for a drink.they were all asleep. my eldest was watching tv one evening with one of the cats on his lap and 'she' came from the room next to the lounge walked across it and into the hall.son and cat watched her, neither moved just carried on watching tv. so its a friendly ghost. And we shared her home for 28yrs,with no ill effects. we only moved because of financial probs. best wishes wendy |

I used to live in one I moved into a house that had a back bedroom that had been converted from a bathroom It was like a green house in there because the water tank and all the pipes where still in a cupboard so no-one slept in there. We used to hear crying at night but thought it was a baby next door. When we met the neighbours a couple of weeks later we found out there was no baby next door but the neighbour had a chilling tale to tell us. The woman who lived in the house several years before had gone a bit crazy when her husband left her and her 2 children. She used to lock the children in the back bedroom for hours and they use to cry to get out On closer inspection of the bedroom door there were scratches on the inside of the door and a lock on the outside. She went out and left them on their own nearly every day so people were used to seeing her without them but when the crying stopped the neighbour grew suspicious and phoned the police. She had phoned them on several occasions as well as social services who would only say they were 'monitoring' the situation. However when they got no reply they broke in and found the house nearly empty. No clothes, hardly any furniture and no sign of life. They went upstairs and found the 2 little girls aged 2 and 5 dead in the bedroom. They had died of starvation. The mother had moved out and was living with her new boyfriend (who didnt want kids) She had told him that the girls had gone to their fathers. I moved out 2 weeks later That was 5 yars ago and a friend of my daughters has recently moved in and told her about the cries in the night. Should i tell her? sue c x |

Well, my Mom had my Son overnight in her old house in B******, Wales, when he was 3, he woke the next morning to tell her that he saw a man walking through the wall. She asked him where, and where he pointed to, there was actually the outline of a door ~ which had been filled in and wallpapered over. Footsteps have been heard too. My Brother saw a dent go down on his bed, as if someone was sitting there, but nobody was there. She is no longer in that house, it was rented and then sold ...but she loved it there. It's empty, and footsteps are still heard by next door, needless to say next door asked who was that clomping up the stairs? Mom, just looked at her, and she said, 'Oh...What if he comes into my house?!!!' OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! True, it's not made up. Stella X |
