I've signed myself up for the on in Chelmsford on June 24th but I've got a lot of work to do as I'd really like to be able to run most of it. I don't suppose anyone has to any tips? Is anyone a fitness freak here that could help me with my diet and exercise? Sx |

*Worried Frown* Sausage Donut - Has your GP said that's alright for you to do this ?? Stacey I used to run (gave it up) OH is still a runner (he does ultra-marathons) Tips: Build up the distance slowly and try to run at least 3 times a week. Say 2 half miles and 1 mile run for the first few weeks then slowly increase. Make one of your weekly runs a longer one. Once stamina and distance increased fartleks are useful for increasing speed. Explanation - if running on roads/pavements sprint between 2 lamposts jog between the next 2, sprint, jog, etc. Lamposts are good cos they are an equal distance apart. Food: we always have bananas and bounty bars in house. Before OH has a race we tend to eat pasta or rice for the week before. Don't run on a full stomach. DRINK lots of fluid (not alcohol. lol) Hope this helps. Remember it's not the taking part it's the winning. lol T.O.R. ;o)) |

I will be doing it again this year.. I really enjoyed it last year! I started off (having not run anywhere since school, lol) with a light jog around a local park, I was able to run further each time i went, running on alternete days....I did'nt change my diet at all, and managed to run the whole way on the day.. Good luck with your runs, a fantastic way to raise cash and awareness!!! LOU XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX |

I have just entered the race for life :-) It's held in Leyland Lancashire at Worden Park on Sunday 15th July 2007. I'm racing for my Mum... she didn't suffer from Cancer (Thank God) but many of our closest family and friends did and she always supported our local cancer charity. So here I go.... Please come and support me :-) I have a web page - but I don't know if I'm aloud to put it here... Gaynor :-) |

What is the length of the course? I'd have to walk it, but I'd love to do it for Mum. Mandy :) |
