Food Scotch broth - barley and vegetable soup. Cullen Skink - cream of smoked haddock soup. Cock-a-leekie - leek and chicken soup served with prunes. Bannocks - oatcakes. Scotch Eggs - boiled eggs surrounded in sausage meat and deep fried in bread crumbs. Bridie - minced steak and onion pie. Clootie Dumpling - a sweet dumpling made with currants, sultanas, cinnamon, brown sugar, syrup and ginger. Cranachan - a mixture of whipped cream and oatmeal. Arbroath Smokie - smoked herring. Dundee Cake - heavy dark fruit cake. Scottish words Cuddie - horse. Puddock - frog. Bubbly Jock - turkey. Tattie Bogle - scarecrow. Dyke - wall. Breeks - trousers. Minging - rather smelly. Marion My grandmother made my dad a Clootie Dumpling at christmas (he had mentioned that he had'nt had one for years since my grandad had died) said it made his christmas eating it!

Some years ago I was on business in Glasgow and the city hotels were full for some reason so we were put up at a place in Milngavie Imagine the fun we had trying to tell the taxi driver our destination....! My recollection, though, was that the pronunciation was more like Mul...guy?

Menzies/Ming us... I think that depends on where in Scotland you are. Marion
