'Retirement' to make you all aware of the plight of the 'Retired Greyhound'. All around the country, there are kennels full of these lovely animals, all looking, and praying, for someone to give them a secure home for the rest of their lives. They do after all deserve it, after giving so much pleasure to so many people for so long. Please give them a thought or two. Baz xx |

Good for you Baz....she says the ones that have been raced and trained as greyhounds have to be re-trained, or muzzled when they go to a new home.....because they are used to chasing the hare, they can go after small dogs and cats.....but hers are always gentle..... |

Hiya ladies, all of you. Sal, I know what you are saying, and yes, they are trained to chase, but with a good lead, and a sharp 'No' they soon get the message, and soon just ignore the other small animals,,,,,well mine did. All down to the owners really. xx |

Yeay...Baz. Good to see you. My Mum gave a beautiful greyhound a wonderful home. She really loved him. After 2 months the dog was looking really well and Mum had lost 2 stone from the walks (she was 74 then). Then the dog started to get breathless...so we took him to the vets and he had a heart condition, fluid build up. She had to have him put to sleep. It has taken her so long to get over the loss and I can't persude her to get another. This dog was the most fantastic temperament, I will definately get one when my two dogs pass on. Tina x |

Was just looking at some pictures of greyhounds for rehoming in our local paper, they look lovely but as I want cats too I would be wary of having a greyhound, when I move home. Will have to have a big think about it all when the time comes to decide. Well done to all those who look after these lovely animals. Liz |

Ooh Baz, you don't know just how much I think of these lovely creatures. But we have five (rescue) cats, and hubby says we can't have a greyhound. Or any dog, come to that. As Bob says, we don't know how a greyhound would be with the cats anyway. Admittedly we do have a small garden, but greyhounds don't need much excercise, do they? x |
