I'm 45, and I've been having lessons since June last year, I cancelled the test twice in December due to nerves, but finally decided to have a go, and I passed first time. The thing is I'm incredibly nervous and haven't been out on my own yet. Any advice would really be very welcome! Thanks in advance. Julie PS I do have a little car, its just sitting outside my house!

Hi Jude, Thanks for that. I live quite close to the seafront and I am toying with the idea of going there for a while and just practising 'being on my own' - I think that's what I'm most scared of, no one to tell me what to do! Bless.....I just need a bit of a shove! Jules x

Thanks to you all, I wish I'd done it years ago... the main reason I did do something about it is that we have a daughter (12), who has special needs, ADHD, and other problems. The thought of spending another summer holiday trying to think of ways to entertain her was the final straw. Will keep you posted. Jules X PS Have changed my name to 'Nile Queen' because I've just come back from a wonderful tour of Egypt!

Congratulations Julie well done. Independance for you now,if you want to go.......you go. It is a strange feeling when you take to driving on your own, but it can give you added confidence. Small journeys at first and before you know it you'll wonder what all the fuss was about lol Mau xx

Hello Julie, Not seen you for a while. Congraatulations on passing your test. First time too. Local roads and quiet roads first. If you intend driving on motorways I think you can have a special lesson which will take you on the motorway. Ann Glos

Congratulations! When I passed my test (at 33) I couldn't wait to be out on my own, but I had 4 children that I'd been taking everywhere on the bus. I'm glad to hear you've taken the first step, it really does get easier.
