Jennifer It's quite scary when they seem to be able to find their way round a computer so well. MY oldest grandson has just turned 4, but knows exactly how to work the racing cars game on his dad's comp! Angela |

Our step grandson has learning difficulties and only has a few words in his vocabulary. Hes six and very intelligent and understands EVERYTHING you say to him just cant verbalise back altho he can communicate with a combination of few words and sign language Makaton. BUT he very savvy on the computer. so much so that daughter & SIL decided to buy him a PC for Xmas cos it would help him with coordination and c concentration. He loves it. They are being very careful tho that he doesn't isolate himself, cos of his slight autistic tendencies, and have put parental blocks & time out on the PC. means he can go online when he gets home from school at 4 till dinner time at 6 . |

Youngsters are so much more able than us oldies when it comes to gadgets and stuff, I think it is because we know we could do harm or damage sometimes if we press the wrong buttons etc, but youngsters do not have this fear. I will never forget when I hired a wallpaper steamer/stripper to get the many layers of paper off the walls at the house we had just moved into. None of us adults could figure out what to do and were afraid of breaking it, my then 6 yr old son looked at the diagram on the machine and said you do this, and this and this, and it worked!! He was just as good with the video recorder and of course, now he is in his 20s has all kinds of things to 'play' with, whereas I still struggle with a mobile phone! lol |

my 5 year old grandson always wants to go on the computer when he comes here. I am scared incase he crashes it but he mainly wants to go on word just so he can do typing of all the words that he knows how to spell. I have saved that penguin thingy with the penguin spelling his name lol He thinks that is great and was surprised the penguin knew how to spell his name. |
