I never typed anything until I started using the computer and have gradually got quicker, - I won't say better. I still use just one finger. Gwyn |

Hi Linda I learned to type 50yrs ago and there have been times in my life when I haven't touched a keyboard for years. But as soon as I sit in front of one, my fingers go straight to the home keys and I am off and away. I have always likened it to riding a bike, once mastered never forgotten. I bought my grandaughter SpongeBob SquarePants typing and was quite impressed with the method of teaching. Maybe all you need is something like that to put your fingers back on track. Linda |

No I'm not. I trained as a shorthand typist in the 1950's and passed all the necessary RSA exams so I am actually a touch-typist. I then went into administration work, so my typing skills were not required very much until the advent of the computer. However, funnily enough it is quite difficult at first for a typewriter typist to change to computer as the hands are held differently and it takes a bit of getting used to. I am sure if you practice you will be able to use more than two fingers. Experiment on Word, just look at the screen and type very slowly literally feeling your way around. You will immediately see your errors on screen and can then re-adjust your fingers back onto the 'home' keys. You will get faster and faster as time goes by and will wonder how you ever managed with just two fingers !!! |
