Hello Desperately hoping that somebody can help me with my daughers mobile. It is the above model and is about 14 months old (so typically out of it's guarantee!). It has worked perfectly up until tonight. I phoned her at 16.45 pm tonight and it worked fine. When she got in by 17.45 her phone had gone off, she tried taking the SIM out and putting it back in, recharging (but nothing shows), shouting at it, cuddling it - nothing. The screen is there very very faint but you can't really see anything. She can't dial out and when I phone her, the automated voice says she cannot take the call - she is frantic. Anybody have any tips or tricks to try? She is on 02 and all the rest of the family are on different networks, so she can't even use her SIM in our phones. Mobiles meam a lot to 17 year old girls - please help!!! Best wishes Carol x

The first thing to always try is to take out the sim card and carefuly clean the gold contacts on it. You can use an eraser to do this but try not to touch them with your fingers as grease can cause problems.

Hi, not sure about that as Im on a monthly tariif with O2. Did she take out ins for the phone.otherwise it may have to go back for repair but will cost. Sounds like the battery has failed as its not showing its charging . i think you can buy replacement batteries

Hi Carol Get her to log in to the O2 website; besides online help, she can register and will be able to find out whether or not she can upgrade. The O2 model I use is a palmtop so upgrades are only free if you have one of the more expensive tariffs, but their upgrades are on a sliding scale. Even if she doesn't get a free one, she might get a very nice upgrade cheaply. Mandy :)

Thanks Mandy and Shirley. She is rushing off in taxi to her boyfriends now, as he has an old dual band phone she can have BUT he said it is bright yellow!! At the moment, anything will do! She gets paid next week, so if it doesn't recover, she will have to stay in few nights and buy a new one. Thanks, Carol

This is just a suggestion, no promises. I remember my daughter had a problem with a sim card( can't remember which service provider, though) and when I contacted their help desk, I was asked to remove sim, rub it with an eraser, seriously, and put sim back into phone. To my disbelief, it worked. Anything is worth a try.

Gail, Mandy and Errol Thanks for that idea, will give it a go, when she comes back with her YELLOW phone (no offence meant to anybody who has a yellow phone and loves it!!). Best wishes Carol
