I sell on ebay all the time, whether youre a buyer or seller you can pay by cheque, postal order, bankers draft, or payment in person, as well as paypal. Obviously, some sellers only accept certain methods of payment - but they will state this on the listing. After I've sold something I'll wait 6 dayd for payment then send a polite reminder. If they don't respond to that they're probably time wasters, and you can contact ebay to get a free re-listing for your item.

*touches wood* I haven't had any problems with Paypal on Ebay, either buying or selling. I have taken cash from a few people who have collected themselves, and also agreed to accept a postal order, but I was a bit unsure about taking cheques in case they bounced (and it's easier for me to accept Paypal and pay a small fee than go down to the bank). I did check the man's feedback and out of about 400+, he's only got 6 negative and they're not about late payment, seems like he's a bit of a moany so-and-so LOL!! Ah well, it was my cheapest item so I'm not too bothered if it goes wrong. Mandy:)

Mandy please can I hi jack your thread for a question. Does everyone who buys/sells on e bay use only paypal? I dislike paypal which puts me off going on ebay at all. Ann Glos

Thanks for replies. I know that there are FAQs etc, but I wanted to know how soon other people started chasing up non-payments unofficially. I'm going to give him another day or so then send a polite email reminding him that he hasn't paid yet, then take it from there. Mandy :)

Hi You cant start the non paying bidder process until 7 days have passed...I just wait the 7 days and see what happens. Have you sent an invoice? perhaps resend an invoice in a few days, and then start the NPB if you still hear nothing.

Mandy, it is upto you when you want payment. Bear in mind, they wanted whatever it is they bid for! I ask for payment immediately (I pay immediately too when buying as this will help towards your feedback comments). If you don't get paid within 3 days or 7 (you decide how long) then state that you will reauction the goods!! Happy ebaying. Shirley-ann

When you’ve sold something on Ebay, how long do you wait for someone to pay? I’ve sold a lot recently and nearly everyone has paid within 24 hours, some even paid immediately. There’s one buyer though who hasn’t paid and it was 3 days ago. I’ve noticed some people actually put ‘please pay within 7 days of auction ending’ but I didn’t think of putting that in the ad. How long should I wait before I get in touch with him? Mandy :)
