Rachel Report 24 Jan 2007 11:51

MMR didn't start until 1988 the second does was introduce in 1996 but only children born after 1992 were in the catchup program- my brother was born in 1990 and had his first dose and he had his second at 15yrs when we realised he didn't get the second in the catch up program. I was in secondary and had a MR (measles + rubella) in 1995 at 12yrs, I didn't get my MMR until I was 22 and in uni (we had a mumps out break on site) If I remember rightly, boys over 25 would not have had the MMR/MR at all, boys 18 - 25 may have had the MR in school, and boys under 18 will have had at least 1 if not 2 MMR's. The only thing I can remember being told can get passed on is Rubella from mother to baby - but mum as to be in contact with rubella whilst preganant

Jude, not sure when they brought MMR in, but when I was at school only the girls were given Rubella jabs (German measles) although it is not normally dangerous to anyone who gets it, it is to pregnant women who have not been vaccinated. Causes deafnes and blindness in unborn child, I think. Your son should have been vaccinated against measles and mumps though. Remeber measles is still a killer, and can cause serious brain damage. Oh bless you all - l will take a look at these sites. Fanx Shelli:o) My worry though is that - my son did'nt have the MMR(knew it was MM something!!) injection and it has been pointed out to me that this could mean if he contracts something nasty he is at risk of passing something more sinister onto his child(due in May) also my granddaughter 9 weeks old could be at a higher risk from him:o((( l will definately take allok at the site you have all so kindly given me. I know there's been a lot of controversy about MMR - all I would say is that, personally, I don't think it's wise to vaccinate a baby who, for whatever reason, isn't 100% well at the time - e.g. sniffles, cold, tummy upset or just a bit off colour. Too much for the immune system to cope with.

Germaine Report 24 Jan 2007 11:10

My daughter was very worried about this when she had her first baby and opted for the 3 she had to go private travel miles and they cost a fortune. ( she was worried as she had heard babies with milk intolerance could be affected and her doctor didn't reasure her at all he just dismissed her as being stupid) But her little girl has had the MMR and is fine . They have done a lot more research now I think. Germaine x Just found this site maybe some info there. change stars for dots. www*mmrthefacts*nhs.uk/

HEY JUDE It's the MMR injection at appox 13 mths that some people feel cause problems. Some parent opt to have it as three injections. But not all health authorities will agree to this, so parents end up paying for it. All four of mine have had all their jabs and they suffered no ill effects......

None that are proven. The only study that reported a link was found to have had it's results exagirated, all repeat studies failed to find any increased risk of developing autisum in the children that had been vaccinated in comaprison to those that hadn't. The risk of autisum was uneffected by vaccinations.

Does anyone know about the injections that babies have, its the one that can cause Autism. If a child does not have this injection can there be problems later on in life - for instance for any children they may have???? Does that make sense. l may not answer your responses straight away as l have to do some jobs, but will be back soon:o) jude sarf wales:o)
