Hi Ya Im a big girl today(my 2nd posting).Last week I had a moan about the hospital Dr telling mum (85) that there was a 1 in 3 chance she would end up on a life support machine , because of her asthma / age .Then 1hr later after my asking him to read her test results, and examine her changed his mind to a 1 in 9 chance. This was was a Dr who wont even be in the theatre on the day.Well today is the big day for her knee replacement , I took her in yesterday, after the dreaded phone call to see if they had a bed for her.She needed another x ray as they have changed which knee needs the op,but every one keeps getting it wrong GOD HELP HER. So of to x ray after I paid for a wheel chair ( none available) got there with ward nurse in tow.Only to see about 20 other people waiting , I was informed that because the ward has not phoned she would have to wait,I asked them to find out how long a wait (,how dare I ) well over 1 hr ,I replied thank you but no thanks my mother is not sitting in a corridor for hrs, we are off back to the ward. What a good start, I must say the ward staff are really nice and were sorry for the mix up. I got her settled in the end . I have rang this morning to be inform shes not having her op until this pm, poor mum she will be ready to eat a scab dog by tomorrow. So Im sitting here on tender hooks until after the op. Sorry just had to talk to some one, this is not good my second posting and moaning in both. |

I hope all goes well for your mum's op. today. It's a good job she's got you to make sure that she is treated properly. Nice to know that the ward staff are OK though. They will be the ones caring for her, so hopefully she will be in good hands. Gwyn |

You pay a pound to hire the chair, refundable. As its miles from one end of the hospital to the other that's if you can park. That would have killed my mum off walking all that way.Dont even get me started on car parking charges. To pay to visit some one( a friend) on ITCU for 6month then another 3months on high dependency , well I think it stinks . Where is this free NHS ?Thats it now my 3rd post and still moaning. |

If the fee is refundable thats not too bad, for a minute I thought the NHS were charging for wheel chairs. Car parking, don't get me started on that one. Sue |

Maybe the local newspaper needs to pop in and take a look, after your mum's op tho! Hope it goes well, they do the correct knee, nearly said right but it might have been left ! Liz |

Hi, hope all goes well for your mum after such an awful start. Bit worrying when they get xrays wrong to say the least! My mum had to have some done recently and the doctor was snapping at her that he was wanting her left side and she was giving the other side. In the end she snapped back and said this is my left side which is on your right - so which do you want! The young doctor with him smirked as the other admitted he was confused. Lorrainex |
