Thanks Roxanne, i am trying not to worry but to be honest have felt sick all day since i came back. Ive had a suspicion for a few months but i think ive been frightened to face it and only went to get checked out after being nagged into it. I did have an ultrasound when mam was diagnosed as we were told we had a 50 percent chance of inheriting it but i was under 30 at the time and was told that it may not show up. On the positive, i have 2 sisters and we've always said that if any of us needed a kidney we would share if we were a match. |

Does anyone on here have this genetic disease in their family or suffer from it? My mam died from end stage renal failure due to it and suffered quite badly. Recently ive lost quite a bit of weight and had pain in my side and abdomen. Ive been to the doc's today and my blood pressure was raised (normally its quite low) and he said my kidneys felt a bit enlarged. Im waiting for an appointment to go for an ultrasound and quite frankly am terrified at the thought of having this disease, im not sure if i can face the thought of ending up on dialysis or a kidney transplant. |
