I am going out to but a new one - can anyone recommend a good one - I am in a soft water area by the way.

Have you looked at the details of the one you want, there may be reviews with it, sometimes products do get feed back which is posted.

Certainly has!! I have one of those clear ones - never again!! yes it looks very pretty when it's boiling but the limescale looks horrific !! lol I would rather it is out of sight

My o.h.'s sister asked for one of those for her wedding pressie, when we visited later she wasn't using it, said it went wrong but she had stuck it in the loft, don't know why she just didn't ask us to take it back, wasn't cheap! Said at the time she asked for it, I wouldn't want one for the reason you stated. Let us have an update on the one you decide on please, my lad wants a new kettle and I said I would get him one. Liz

I think Russell Hobbs make the most reliable kettles. The one I have at the moment is a 'kudos' and I'm really pleased with it. It's a little on the noisy side (you get used to it !) but boils really quickly.
