Keeley You cannot view any English/Welsh certs on line. You have to buy them to see them. And, to follow on from the posting above, purchasing any units through GR is not cost-effective. Always go direct to the sites...............many of them have completely free access to the info. Reg |

Keeley, do you mean you are paying for credits on this site? If so, let me give you a couple of sites you can search for free. The first is www*ancestry*co*uk (change * for .) which you can register for free, and see details of the 1881 census. You can also search the 1841,1851,1861,1871, 1891 and 1901 census but you won't get to see the details unless you pay the subscription. There are several options for subscription, though the yearly is by far the best option. You can register for a free 14 trial if you give your credit card details, but try the site out first. Also on ancestry, you can see the complete BMD indexes, and view the actual images of them. This will give you the GRO reference so you can buy the certs. Another handy site is FreeBMD.org.uk where you can search for BMD's for free, though this is not fully transcribed yet, you can search from 1837 to about 1911 with success. You will also need www.gro.gov.uk if you want to order your certificates. These can be ordered online or by post. Final tip..if you get stuck and need help, go to the tips board and ask, there are some lovely people on there waiting to help, do a look-up for you, give you some hints, or find a lost ancestor. Also be prepared for mistranscriptions when searching, and various spellings of a name...it often happens so dont stick to one spelling. |

Hi Keely, Post this onto the Tips or Records Officer board where more [eople are likely to see it. Do you have Alfred's birth certificate? If not, I would start by getting that. When you say you have bought credits to check Alfred's birth cert and the census, do you mean on this site? If so, the birth will only give you the GRO reference number, you can't actually view the certificate and you can get these for free on Ancestry. Sam x |

Can anyone PLEASE help?! I'm trying to find out more about my Great great grandparents. All i know is their names and that they had a shop in Booton in Norfolk. (I think this is where they we born!)They had a son called Alfred who was born in 1905. We've paid for credits to check the birth certificate of Alfred and cencus to try and find out more but every time i try to bring it up its coming up as a blank page. Can anyone please help as i am new to this and computers? Many thanks Keeley |
