I think its £5 for every day after three days. Thats what it was a few years ago after storms knocked ours out for 6 days. We nearly didn't get a message that my son was in hospital with a ruptured spleen because of it, and I couldn't phone the hosptial either.

They DO pay compensation - but it's hardly worth having, especially since you have to use a mobile. They seem to think that's good enough!!!

Just emailed BT and asked them for an update and what compenstion we will be entitled to as well - after all I pay extra to have free evening and weekend calls Joanne

Joanne, they compensated my family when our phone was out action, thay diverted calls to a mobile and paid us comp for haveing to get nan to ring us off dad's mobile. That was 2-3 years ago

Poor you!! It really annoys me when the landline isn't working and the phone company asks for an 'alternative' number (ie mobile) to transfer calls to!! I deny having a mobile - stating the fact that I have a landline that should be working!!! I should ask for compensation - after all most people have free weekend & evening calls on their landline, which they don't have on the mobile. maggie

and no sign of BT sorting it out. We've had no telephone for four days now ( all our area is without), do BT still pay compensation?? Having to use mobile a hell of a lot and Dad is in hospital so ringing through to check on him is costing rather a lot. Joanne PS - how would we manage without mobiles - lol
