We have loads of power cuts out here-OH says if a sparrow p..s on the the power lines( all overhead ) 2 villages will be without leccy! Initial reaction would be lights--but then we make do with candles, Winner has to be washing machine--but then if we don't have tv,computers, radios,we'll have loads of time to wash by hand in the outhouse!

Laptop is a definate. Most other things I can convert to gas, (mind I would miss my slow cooker) so I guess a washing machine would have to run a close 2nd Jac

Lynn I agree with you. My tumble dryer broke a couple of weeks ago. Trying to dry things is horrendous, I hate having things drying all over the house.

Laptop - it counts(followed by TV), otherwise the freezer

We have never had a tumble drier, mainly because they are so herrendously expensive to run For example A computer takes less than 200 watts when switched on, a washing machine 500watts, a dishwasher 1,200 - 1,500 watts, whereas a Tumble Dryer uses a whacking 4,000 watts.....!
