me .mum and 1 brother are left handed,,others are right as was dad,,,,,and 4year old grandaughter hold pencil just like her dad, sort of upside down,! 8 month old grandson always crosses his ankles & how many times you uncross them , he always put them back I do the same,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,we arent taught them so yes think things do get passed on,,,it must be the Genes,!

Both my husband and my son can bend their thumb to lay flat across their palm - I certainly can't LOL My mum, me, my sister and my daughter - not so much a trait- but we all have 3 freckles forming an L on our arm. My daughter can not so much roll her tongue as flip over the end in a triangle that lays flat against the rest of her tongue - goodness knows where she gets that from! Mags xx

Son and I can both curl our tongues - OH can't. Son and I both have hyper-mobility (double-jointed) - OH isn't Son and OH have perfect pitch - I don't I'm the only one with synaesthesia, though, neither my Mum or Dad had it. Gwynne

I can only hold up middle, ring and baby fingers together. I remember doing this in school (yr7 / Form 1), we did attacheched or detached ear lobes (y family are all detached), ability to roll tongue (I can't but parents and bro can), length of index finger campared to middle finger, straight or widows peak hairline.

Hi Gwyn, hope you are well. Please dont laugh but when I hold a cup or glass, my little finger sticks out as if I am trying to be 'posh' Lol. My youngest 17 is just the same and also my 10 yr old Grandson. I would love to know if this is hereditory or not and more importantly which side of my parents it comes from. We were talking with grandson yesterday about Scout and Cub salutes.... He, his Mum ( my daughter) and I could hold 3 fingers straight upright, ( holding down small finger and thumb) but other daughter and OH couldn't..... Have you noticed similar differences within your family?
