Would anyone care to tell me how much gas they use in an hour for their central heating - 4 digit meters are imperial and 5 digits are metric (they run about three times as fast). I think my meter is running too fast so just checking. |

Why not keep a weekly check for a few months and see how much you use each week. The only way you will find out if you are using alot of gas is doing a weekly check, ie Sat to Sat for a few months I live in a bungalow and it varies on how cold and when we have heating on . Last week we used 39 metric units, but the only way you willl find out what you are using is doing a weekly check |

When on a very tight budget many years ago, I used to do a daily check on my gas and electricity. I knew exactly what money I had to put up each week to cover my bills. I am on my own now for the next couple of hours and will only be using gas for heating. So will go and read my meter and then read it again in one hour. Jenny. |

Thanks for all your tips. It's just that I am using approx 30p per hour on the heating and that isn't on high. I had a bill of 58 days for £263.00. Thats £4.50 a day. I can never remember bills this high. I don't really cook much and I have a dishwasher to do the dishes so that's electric also I use electric shower. Cheers! |

just making a mark so i can find this one again tomorrow After having a gas bill of £950 just before christmas I do like to keep my eye on the bills. It was an obvious mistake and we are actually £123 in credit as we pay by monthly direct debit but our electric one seems to high. We now pay £53 a month for the electric and £37.50 a month for the gas. |
