Thanks BC - gets easier each year. May well go off alone or with my son perhaps, we have been intending to go back to Malta together, for a very long time. A birthday meet - now that might be worth thinking about! lol

This will certainly be a sad time for you, Liz.. Thinking of you. With regard to your own Birthday, why not take off on your own, go exactly where you want, make your own arrangements, and......enjoy:-) BC XX

A difficult time but not his daughter so he is not affected. Will certainly start looking at places for July but school holiday time and he hates going anywhere then.

Paris, Rome, Viena? or book it youself and say he has to book that week off as he can't work if he's not in town lol Sounds like the first week of Feb (+2days) is an emotiona rollercoster for your family.

Before Christmas o.h. wanted to go away for his birthday on 5th Feb which he has made a habit of, since I took him off for his 50th! He always took a day off work on his birthday anyway, and we used to go out for the day, now he wants the weekend or whenever 3 days away. I found us a house to rent in Hunstanton near where we stayed in November, then he said it was too expensive so changed his mind. Yesterday he changed his mind again, and asked me to book it - luckily it is still available, so we will be off from the 2nd to the 6th when I will be expected to arrange everything and pack and drive there etc. It is hard for me to deal with as the 31st Jan is the anniversary of my late baby daughter's birth (she would be 33 this year) and then the 3rd is the anniversary of her death and the 8th the anniversary of her burial. Think I will place my order for something special on my birthday in the summer for a change, one year he almost forgot and last year didn't book the day off in time so someone else was away and he had to work a 12 hour shift. Now where can he take me ......?
