Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 20 Jan 2007 01:21

My late lab x chewed when young but only the wooden bars of the old cot side I used to keep her in the conservatory when I was busy or out so she didn't piddle on the carpet - the house was up for sale at the time! She got out of that fairly quickly but was always Australia bound, had to have my garden at the new house paved over cos she kept digging holes, she was a monkey! MIss her like mad.

We have English Bull Terriers. They would demolish the house if they decided to. They have a Kong instead. Bought from 'Pets at Home' it's a hollow tube to fill with goodies and its a toy all in one. They also have an indestructable ball from same shop. They are crate trained and sleep in their at night only. Hubby around through the day. Other than that we now make sure there is nothing lying around. House has never been as tidy. Sue xx Ps They dig for England!! Haven't fathomed how to stop that little activity lol

Jacqui/Rosemary We seem to have it under control in the house, although he did the the table legs, skirting board and even got in to the oven when he was teething. Its just worse when he's in the garden. We have a large garden and he's had the plants, two dwarf apple trees, a 12 ft trampoline and the fencing (oops forgot the drain pipes from the sink and garden furniture). I know that this breed of dog has a tendency to chew, but I must have the the worlds worst LOL I must admit to getting very frustrated with him, but when he looks at you with his big brown eyes, you can't help but smile. Hi Elaine , He probably will grow out of the chewing a bit! That said when we had a lab she went through a sofa ,numerous shoes, library book and my mums jeans! The thick rubber toys, think they're called 'Kongs', which have the small holes for snacks to come through will keep him occupied as they only release the treats slowly. Also a friend was told re her dog chewing the table legs to put peppery or spicy paste on the legs (of the table!) to discourage him. Good luck.

Right I’ll start. I have a 1 year old choc lab that is very destructive. He’s walked twice a day for about an hour , but still wants to chew everything – mainly in the garden, fence panels chewed and he loves digging. All of his bedding he has destroyed, and any toys that aren’t indestructible last 5 mins. I home all day so he’s not on his own. Really would like any advise on how to stop him. E x
