My 8 yr old son has been given a trumpet to learn to play from school and omg the NOISE!! he has to practise every night for 20 mins he has never played one before Julia |

Hee Hee lol My youngest started on the Tuba at 7 - then progressed to the cornet. Then they stopped the lessons, she went away to Uni, is back home......... and bought herself a saxaphone!! :o( AND the neighbour's son plays the drums!! maggie |

We used to threaten to make her practice in the garage, but never did! We said that it would attract all the cats in the street! |

Sympathy-know just how you're feeling,(or hubby does!) when mine were 5 and 6 they both took violin at school-only drawback was I had to learn alongside them!-mind you I did get a moment of extremly embarassing fame when Mums and 5year olds had to perform at the northern college of music!!! Youngest now is a self taught flautist,just bought a purple one off ebay!-so keep encouraging your little one & buy the neighbours earplugs .x |

When my son brought home a violin to learn (didn't last more than one term!!) the dog would join in, she hated the sound lol |
