last year we had a letter home asking if child had had contact with certain illnesses to inform school asap as child was having cancer treatment so immune system was down and the illness would put her at more risk. Eldest just told me she died yesterday was only in year 9 so 13/14 years old. Life is so unfair

Poor little mite. life can seem so unfair even if you subcribe to the thought that our life has the allotted span and this was her time. Feel very sad for her family cos they have only grief now . Shirley

Poor kid! thought are with her family and friends. they say life's a b*tch and then you die - shame it had to happen to one so young who had a long future infront of her. My friend was 14 (yr 10) when she found out she had leukimia over the easter hols - when she returned to school we all had letters to say a girl in the school had a comprimised immune system and could we inform the school if we or siblings had any of the following (quite a list), I refused to go to school for 2 weeks when I had swollen glands because the doctor couldn't tell us what it was - Mumps and Scarlat fever were mentioned. My frien is alive and well now at 23 with 3 or 4 children she thought she'd never have.

apparently she only found out at the beginning of the summer holidays and it was one that was virtually in every organ. At least her pain has gone now, just not for her family
