Hi Roxanne - Makes life difficult, doesn't it? My grandfather changed his surname, around the time of WW1 and I have found it hard tracing the family. All I can suggest is lateral thinking with regard to the surname, some of the mis-transcriptions are unbelievable! Do they have unusual christian names, or can you pin them down to a certain area? Have you googled the name? My grandfather came over from Sweden just after WW2, with the surname Krilovs, which constantly gets mis-spelt. People think it must be easy researching an unusual name...if only they knew! If you post on the Ancestry boards too, someone may recognise the name.
