'They' told me to keep my boys in for two weeks when we moved! Moved on Saturday. By Monday we were all stir crazy. Let them out - no problem! Think it may depend on the cat. It would be unusual for either of mine to venture more than about 50 yards from a warm bed and a bowl of food. My Mum used to do the butter thing and we never lost a cat during a move...try it - what have you got to lose? Sheila |

i'm moving house in 2 weeks time and someone said that to get my cat used to his new surroundings i should put butter on his paws when he goes out for the first time?? supposed to leave a scent apparently! anyone tried this? or have other ways of not losing their kitty when moving?? thanks, paul.... |

butter works but you should also keep pussytat in for a minimum of 2 weeks so that they just look out windows and acclimatise!! What i did with Clic's was walked her round a couple of times on a cat lead and let her put her scent everywhere she wanted too and she came home the first time I let her out!! Oh and on the first time you let cat out make she its hungry!!! |

Paul The theory is the cat licks the butter off their paws and thus gets the scent of their new surroundings ......... We tried it on ours - made an awful mess lol - but they never got lost even tho they went out on the first day - but whether or not it was that that actually worked we will never know LOL |
