When is everyone going to catch on to the fact that 1931 DOES NOT EXIST......so asking for its release makes anyone who signs look a complete fool............ Reg |

Sorry, but there have been countless pattisions to get the 1911 census early in the past decade, non have worked. Besises we will get some of the 1911 census in 2009 and the remainder in 2012, Because it will take 5 years at least to transcribe and index there is no point patitioning for the 1911 anymore. When you get to the 1921 census opening it would mean that alot of OAP's would have info available that the government promised would be closed to the public for 100yrs under the 1920 Census Act, some of these people may have things to hide about their childhood or live in the same house, they were promised that this infomation would be kept secret for 100 years and that promise should be honered. Just think of illigitamate children, if they don't know or want their families to know; opening the census could be detramental. So to the 1931 census - It was destroyed by a fire in WW2, which goes to show just what the patition organiser knows about the censuses, the next one was the 1939 National Registration due to WW2, the 1941 was never taken. The censuses were never taken for family historians / genealogists, it was taken for future planning - the fact we see them at all is fantastic, Australia distroy all theirs then the statistical data has been coralated. |

Well then it's about people realised on this board that not everyone can spend a lot of time on here and may not have realised that there have already been numerous threads. |

Just hope Springbok isn't a 'newbie' full of enthusiasm for their new found hobby and excited at letting members know about a petition they've heard about. Then gets a load of responses like the ones on this thread. And then people wonder why some folk don't post on here any more. Debby |

Sorry Springbok, you might have gathered by now that alot of us are sick of seeing these petition threads. Yours is the 8th threat in 10 days regarding the same petition on this board alone. |

Does it really matter that this is not the only thread on this subject on the board or in fact GR ? There are loads of repetitive threads on the board at times, At the moment there are several on the big brother subject. All such threads can be overlooked and ignored if it annoys or disinterests people, and all such threads are doing no harm , a polite 'there is another thread already on this subject, Ill bump it up for you' would have been a less severe response maybe. Elaine x (a complete fool who signed...but it didnt kill me or anyone in doing so) |

I have already removed my response to this, as it was taken completely the wrong way, and I had no wish to offend anyone. Can we stop going on about it now please? |
