the person we rent off is selling 'our home'...i'm so upset.... we moved here july of 2005....and i love it here... we have been told we have the option to buy,,,but what they are asking..well don't ask!!

Hays, I've been in the same situation myself. Its is probably being sold as buy-to-let, so any buyers will keep you as tenants anyway. Just be aware that if the worst does happen, they have to give you two months notice, and that has to be given in court...so it takes time, in the meantime the council should re-house you, if thats what you want. I wasn't so lucky, my landlord of my lovely flat got impatient and put it up for auction, and the buyer wanted the flat for himself, but the letting agent was really good and gave us first refusal on this one. Hopefully that won't happen to you, most buy-to-lets remain just that, and the tenants stay put.

TW,,,she said we can buy if we want to...then told us the price...........wait for it........................................................................ £325,000 if we can't buy..(which we can't) we have to be out in 2 months!!!!!!

Hi Hays, try not to get too upset till you have explored all avenues, fate sometimes sorts things for us in ways we don't understand, but there may be something even better for you round the corner, even if you have to get up a bit earlier to get little 'un to school. xx

Awww sheesh! That's really bad! Sorry I misunderstood. Why isn't she selling as buy to let I wonder, the income is often the favoured option. What a shame. Have you spoken to the council, or had a word with the letting agents in the area? Has SHE given the two months, or has the court. She cannot put you out on the street with a child. Take a trip down to the CAB and make sure of your rights. The housing act actually comes down on the side of the tenants rights.

You may have been told to move from your home. just remember your not on your own As a tennent you have your rights if you wanted you could put up a fight. If your in the house He can't Sell Go to C.A.B. that they will tell. Hugs for Hays

If she bought to let, then it gets a bit complicated. Have you had your notice in writing? Depending on what kind of tenancy you have will determine your full rights..the CAB will advise you of this. In fact there is quite a bit on their site. Your best bet is to speak to the council, it may not be too good to start with, depending what emergency accommodation is available in your area, but they HAVE to rehouse you if you have a child.

You may rent in the Private sector but they can't sell if your still in the house. If they later try to get an eviction order well that could take months according to my friend who deals with that knd of thing. Carol is right in saying the council have to find you someplace to live, So go and talk to them too

Take your tenancy agreement to the CAB and get support from them Hays, also contact the Council and Housing Associations, get the bit between your teeth and fight for your rights, my love, and make sure if you move you get a place with a spare room!! xx

There might be a buyer who will want the house as a buy to let too, with you remaining in it, has your tenancy term run out i.e. was it an indefinite let or a let for a certain time, if not, I don't think she can turn you out to sell it just like that. Liz
