I have a widow who died in 1852. Does anyone know f they recorded her husband's name on the death cert please. I don't want to pay for a cert if the information I require is not on there. Thanks Gordon

sometimes it will say wife of... or widow of.... not sure if it is always though. But somebody will have had to be the informant and that may be her husband or a child (even sometimes a neighbour). i always think it is worth getting the death certificate anyway. ann Glos

meant to say, have you checked the 1851 census for her husband's name? Ann Glos

Thanks Ann. Re the 1851 census she is living in Wednesbury< Staffs with a husband and wife (plus their children) The husband and wife where both born in Shropshire and so was she i.e. Ann Hall age 84 widow, lodger, born Hordily, Shropshire. I have a feeling she must be the mother of the husband whoes name is William Rickward (he has been my brick wall). I thought if I got her death cert I could perhaps trace her - via her husband- that way. Can't really afford to waste the money but can't really see any other way.

I have one here from 1854. She is a widow. Her husband and his occupation are shown. Gwyn

Could she be the mother of the wife in 1851?.... Do you know wife's maiden name? Maybe some detectives on here could help find out? Gwyn
