A split is a bad idea but the present situation is unsustainable. Scotland has always had certain separate institutions and the logical thing to do would be to integrate these over time. The setting up of the Scottish Parliament, as a sop to the Scottish nationalists to buy Scottish votes in 1997, was bound to lead to call for further seraration rather than integration. Only an idiot could not have predicted what is now happening. Either the Scottish Parliament goes or else a split will eventually happen. |

Scottish independence would be a victory for the 'Papes', whose goal was to break the union 300 years ago, so allowing the authority of Rome over the country again. That was why the majority of Scots were so FOR it. |

Sally - I think you will find that the censuses are this way as we weren't always the British Isles!! |

A recent poll suggest that although many Scots are in favour of their own Parliament they dont want the Union to break up. Myself I think to break the Union up would be a disaster, Europe would walk over the lot of us. Len |

There are many laws which are different in Scotland, and I also ask.....if we are the British Isles....why are the censuses only for England and Wales.....strange to me..... The SNP have a good following, but to date do not have enough votes to rule for separation of Scotland from the UK...... |

I for one would be delighted if it meant England could have its own Parliament with an English Prime Minister and English MPs and we no longer had to support the Scots who are forever whinging about the terrible things done to them by the English but still take our money.. Jean (whose maternal grandparents were Scots gawd love 'em). |

terrible idea i think. would they need their own army? navy? what would happen if we had another crazy war rampage? would they refuse to support us? couldnt blame them if they did. also we would be even worse at individual sports! the only decent sportspeople we have are scottish or welsh! |

What do you think,do you think its a good Idea? Personally I think we are both such tiny countries, that if we were to seperate it could be disastrous for us both,I think as a whole were strong but seperated Im not so sure, your views please? |
