Hi Maz Did you know kids Ibuprofen and calpol can be given at the same time ? (obviously the correct dose for both) But give the iboprofen every other dose ...every 8 hours example Calpol/ibroprofen >>>>....4 hours...>>>> Calpol..>>>>..4 hours..>>> Calpol/ibroprofen..>>>>..4 hours..>>> calpol..>>> and so forth hope this helps. Hi Girls, well she said this morning that she didn't think it was quite so bad - but she walked up the road to school like an old woman! Have got her the liquid neurofen ready for when she comes home. Haven't had a call from the school, so am hoping she isn't too bad. Maz. XX |

I asked her to just try and get through the morning, and if she was really bad I would pick her up at lunchtime. Don't really think she needs the doc - she did skate more afterwards - it is more than likely just bruising and inflammation causing stiffness and the pain. Maz. XX |

if you can get a dose of paracetamol or ibuprofen into say 8 - 8:30 it should get her through school but if she needs if and the school agrees you could give her the other at lunch time (would mean going to school yourself though) You can give paracetamol 4 - 6hourly up to 4 times a day and ibuprofen 6 - 8 hourly up to 3 times a day. plenty of sleep should help, and a warm bath in the morning if she gets stiff over night |

I used to find the Nurofen for kids more effective than the calpol although I appreciate it can differ depending on the child, they are individuals after all. |

thanks girls, she is nearly 11 and tall for her age. It is moving about (getting up, sitting/lying down etc) that is the problem - once she is in place she is ok. Trouble is, I have to be at mum's at 9.30 in the morning, so I really need her to go to school - I am just hoping she is up to it, or I'll have to drag her along too - don't like to leave her at home alone for too long, although she is very sensible. Will definitely try and get some kids ibuprofen anyway - might ring my friend in the morning and see if she's got any. Maz. XX |

if she's under 16 you can only use paracetamol as asprin can be dangerous to children and only given on medical advice. Idealy Iburpofen would be better (unless she's had a reaction before or asthmatic) but if she cant swallow tablets that's out of the question for now. ibuprofen syrup might be an idea tomorrow if you can get it. But get her checked over by a Doc tomorrow if she's no better. (Over 12 she could have 1g of paracetamol / 20ml of 6+ calpol providing she is not smaller than the average 12 yr old) |

Hi Maz I would say that if it isn't starting to ease by the morning perhaps you should take her to the docs. It depends which part she has damaged but if she is having trouble sitting down she may have damaged her coccyx. I'm not up on tablets for children so can't help. But give her an extra cuddle from me - gently of course:) Chrissie x |

She had a really nasty fall while ice skating today - fell right on her bum/back. It is really hurting her, although there is no bruising to see yet. I have put Arnica cream on it and she has had a hot bath. I thought I would give her something in the morning to ease the pain a bit, she can't swallow tablets, so I have either Calpol 6+ or soluble aspirin. What do you reckon? Any advice would be most welcome :-)) she was creaking about like an old woman of 90 tonight!! Maz. XX |
