Living relatives on family trees

I wonder if anyone else has had the same annoying problem I am currently trying to sort out. I was contacted by a woman researching a name in my tree. After asking for further info to verify we were looking at the same person, we allowed each other access to view. On my tree I have hidden all living relatives. When I viewed this woman's tree, she has entered the names of my aunt and her direct family, all of whom are living relatives. I contacted her immediately and asked her to remove the material she had entered, pointing out that the policy of the site, is that permission has to be given. Her response was to ignore my email, and to remove my access to her tree. Incidentally, in the short period of time I was able to view her tree, I could not find a connection. So she had no reason to enter my aunts details at all. I have written to the site and told them what's happened, and asked them to take this matter further with the member concerned.

She has obviously got them from another persons tree. The point is that I have emailed her and pointed out that they are my living relatives and asked her to remove the details. My Aunt is not on the net, and not a member of the site, so she could not have given permission for her details to be used. Thankfully the problem has been sorted out now. I contacted the support team at the site and pointed out the problem. They responded very quickly. The end result is that they contacted the member and asked her to remove the details from her tree. In the end the team removed the details. This lady wasn't directly related to my relative, and had no need to enter her details. Thank you support team for your help.

Have you checked with your Aunt in case the person asked permission from her by letter or something? Ann Glos
