Pauls thread earlier today when discussing Dragonfly living near the M25 reminded me of a hilarious radio prank pulled for April fools when I lived out there. The announcer went on and told people that due to congestion you would only be able to drive clockwise round the m25 for 3 days a week and anti clockwise for the rest. It was so funny people rang from miles around to complain as there journeys would be longer going the wrong way home. can anyone else think of a favourite april fools prank Regards Tania |

Many years ago a few of us got together and put our school buildings up for sale 3 boarding houses and several other buildings some of them listed. Then added the headmasters number, along with the house numbers !!!!! It was chaos for weeks. Won't tell which boarding school as we never got found out (although we were suspected lol) Jac |

A few years ago GMTV did one about negative calorie water, if you drank it you could eat whatever you wanted and still loose weight. A friend of mine phoned me to ask ' wonder when the water company would provide it in our area' I didn't tell her it was a prank for weeks later. pmsl Jackiexx |

Think it was about 1980 on Radio Cambridgeshire, when it was ''Proposed'' That the next Space shuttle flight would land ar RAF Alconbury, near Peterborough. RAF Alconbury was at that time quite a Big American base flying F4 phantom's, and the U2 Spyplane.. I did one similar to the M25 thingy, I put up a spoof posting about odd numbers posting one day, and even numbers the next........got twigged early on though.... Bob |

the thing is with the water thingy most people dont drink enough water anyway so if they increased the amount of water they drink then they could actually lose weight without trying!!!!! LOL Although they wouldnt lose fat weight but fluid weight if that makes any sense at all |

i remeber my dad phoning my uncle pretending to be anglian water, he told him that a water leak had been reported and was coming from his garden. if he was likely to want water during the day he had better fill up pots and pans etc and they would be round shortly to turn off the water so that they could fix the leak. well he believed dad, filled up pots and pans etc. well after about 4hrs of no-1 from water board turning up he rang anglian water and was made to feel a right prat as it WASNT them that had rung him and there WAS NO leak in his garden!!! |

1) Primary School, early 90's - we were herded into the school hall (curtains and blinds shut) and told we were being held in there on police orders as the yard was a crime scene. We then had to listion to the radio reporting that something had happened - I think it was a bomb scare off the top of my head - and when we were allowed outside a whole section of yard was cordened of with police tape. We were told later that week that the radio was a cassette. 2) Primary school Yr6 / J4- My teacher was handing out mid-year school reports. As we read them and each others we realised we all had the same thing, it then dawned on us that we had written our own names on the top and what we had been given was a prank - it kept us going for a good 10 minutes at the end of the day - we did get our real reports but mum thought the joke one was better suited to me.. |

The Spaghetti hoax was done by the Guardian Newspaper...complete with photos of people 'harvesting' the spaghetti somewhere in Italy. I only know this because I worked for the Guardian a few years later and they still had the 'proofs' hanging up on the office wall. Lol. |
