Just started on my welsh ancestry,Im so confused with all these place names is driving me mad:-)) I keep having to check and double check the place names,its taking forever:-)))))))))))

Roxanne....Good luck!! Found the easiest way to deal with some of the place names is to say them in a Welsh accent and then see the census taker has written it as it sounds...lol!

The major problems I've found have been when the census taker is English and the householders Welsh speakers. I've encountered some interesting [honetic spelling of Welsh placenames. Gwynne

Thanks guys:-)) at least Im not on my ownlol Gwynne,I think that what the problem is,it a real pain,isnt it! Now I know why Ive put it off for so long, Oh well!this time Im sticking with it,Im determined to get there:-)

Roxanne I can assure you it is much easier researching on a pc, when we went to Wales last year to further research, you should have seen the looks I got when asking for directions!! lol Good luck Kim

hi i cant get back beyond my dads parents either as there is so many with the same name,david thomas etc mine are glamorgan mountain ash ,were going there for a holiday this year lol karen
