Hi BC, So sorry to hear you've got Gout, isn't at all funny. My hubby has suffered for years, sometimes when he gets an attack in his ankle he can't even walk on it. Had it in his knee over Christmas, so made it a bit of a miserable time for him. If you put 'Gout diet' into google some very helpful sites come up about what foods and drink you should avoid to help stop another attack. The usual is to avoid too much fat and lessen your intake of high protien foods. Sorry but alcohol, especially beer is a no no, my hubby gets really bad after he's been drinking. His gout that is not him. I really feel for you, not at all nice! Fiona. x

hi matey, needs treating quickly, as it can be very painful, elevate legs whist resting, and drink water, water, and more water, oh and did i mention drinking water... and no alcohol i'm afraid, as for medication kris is correct. bryan.

Too much red meat also high blood pressure can cause Gout too, not just drinkie poos! Hope you get well soon, Ive heard it is painful xx

My dad had it - it is a build up of uric acid in joints - usually treated with a drug called Allipurinol (sp?) and an anti inflammatory like Indomethacin

or know anything about it? Discovered this morning from hospital tests, that apart from my knee infection , and pneumonia, I also have Gout *blushes...nothing to do with my alcohol intake I am sure....lol BC
