I said the same as Bob Cratchet He seemed old when I was a kid. I remember the worker quite well. He used to carry a ladder around quite a lot. And of course when he turned with the ladder on his shoulder everybody had to duck out of the way. Those were the days Black and white TV with slapstick comedy.

I remember charlie and his sister Charlie Drake (born Charles Springall he lived in the same street as me when I was a child, he was in a duo act mick and Montmorency unfortunatlycharlie suffered a serious stroke in 1995 and has not worked since, classing himself as 'semi-retired'. Charlie was one of the funniest Comedians and I can remmeber him from when he used to tour the clubs in the early 60's. RIP Charlie. SueXXXXXXXX

Janet he was 81 died in his sleep and had been in a nursing home after he had 2 strokes

One of the funniest sketches I have ever seen was dear Charlie playing all the instruments in the 1812 Overture. I laughed so much I finished up crying. Thankyou Charlie for the pleasure you gave to millions. Jean x.
