Jamie had 9 little fish for his birthday yesterday - I've just got in from being out most of the day and 2 of them are all but dead. A third is burrowed down inside one of the plants looking very miserable. Have asked ex to break the news to him - hope he is not too upset. Have to leave them in the tank for the moment in the hope that they revive miraculously, but my friend (fish expert lol) doubts it very much. Fingers crossed for the little mites. Maz. XX |

Oh no! Poor Jamie. Any chance the place you got them from could replace them before he has to be told? Daisy |

What kind of fish are they? Is the water the right temperature? Is there enough oxygen in the water? If they are cold water fish, like goldfish, and you have used tap water in the tank, you may need to use an oxygen tablet as the chlorine in tap water will take out the oxygen for a few hours. Did you introduce them to the water slowly, placing the bag in first for a couple of hours to even the temperature before tipping them into the water? It could also be that these have not been together that long and may be a little territorial. Fish will attack each other sometimes. |

Well I am taking advice from my friend who has tons of experience with fish, so they SHOULD be ok in the tank they are in. All the others (touch wood) are fine and whizzing about like nutters. Hopefully there will be better news tomorrow. Friend says that the one in the plant may even be laying eggs - I'll probably end up overrun with 'em !! Thanks for the sympathy anyway! Maz. XX |

My son still has a goldfish he won at a fete in May 1997, it has survived a leaking tank, and lives in ordinary tap water, not heated, in the corner of son's kitchen. The second fish he won at the same time only died about a year ago, so this one is doing well. Hope Jamie's fish recover. |

Well I have a real mystery now lol !! I have removed the little neon from the tank now as it is definitely dead .... BUT ... the one that was in the plant and the little angel that was on the bottom have .... DISAPPEARED !!! I have had the plants and the 'broken pot' out of the tank this morning and they are nowhere to be seen!! The only thing I can think is that somehow they have got under the filter - but I would have to take everything out of the tank to check that. I'm waiting until a bit later to phone my friend (she will be sick of me lol) and crawl to her so she can come round and confirm that I have not finally gone completely insane! Will let you know what happens! Maz. XX |

Hi Shelli, I really don't think they could have - they are only teeny and the little angel was one of the biggest ! Buggs - there were 3 mini angels, 3 tiny neons and 3 other tiny silver ones with black spots. Interesting story though, will bear it in mind for the future! Maz. XX |

Maz, why not make a quick call to the store you got them from, they might say as a goodwill gesture you could pick up some more, and give you an idea why this is happening. Hope the rest stay well. Liz |
