has anyone took any big companys to the small claims court ( british gas or electric of other big companys} we moved here 8 weeks ago and we was in credit with british gas and they wont send a cheque we have phoned and phoned and phoned emailed and snail post but they will not send us the cheque we did get a bill saying we r in credit and i have had enough now british gas r taking the micheal |

Have you spoke to the Citizens Advice, they can be very helpful in these kind of matters. Cheeky sods they want a bit more interest on your money before paying out. catherine xx |

I think if you are more than £50 in credit, its illegal for them not to send you the money. So go for it. Sue |

thank u for ur replys my oh has just spoke to some dopey person from british gas and they must b thick as 2 short planks lol cos we have changed our supplyer they keep sending letters saying welcome to british gas arrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhh and my oh told em we were in credit with gas in other house and they checked and said yes though it is £18.99 i no it might not b that much but when ur hard up its a different matter lol anyway they said they would get on to it and post it so i told my oh ill give it a week and if it aint here then i will go ahead and seek infomation on what we can do cos i really have had enough if i owed them it they would have threatened me with courts by now |

You're right there Dotty, they would be after you if you owed them. I pay direct debit every month, a couple of months ago they wanted a one of payment of £100 just in case my debit debit wasn't enough. If I didn't pay they would take away the direct debit facility. Well what I pay is more than enough. So I phoned them up and said fine withdraw the facility, of course they never and they did apologise. But its a scare tactic, but I wasn't having any of it. As it is they earn interest on my money every month. Sue |

cheeky b&&&&&ggers i would have told em to get stuff with me i just cant get rid of em i changed our supplyer to power gen and after 3 weeks when i didnt hear out from them cos we r on key meters and they were suppose to send new keys i phoned power gen to ask what was happening and the man turned round and said we cant supply ur electric and i asked y not wats the matter the man said well mrs, british gas has put a stop on us supplying ur electric and i said well they cant do that so i had to get it sorted |

I think they make life difficult, so you stay with British Gas rather than change to a cheaper supplier, but it just makes me more determined to change. Sue |

Maybe the threat to take them to the small claims court will have some effect. Isnt there a Power Ombudsman? Always write ot he Managing director not the underlings brenda |

thanks for that ang i will have to phone em in morning cos there phone line shut at 6.30 so itll give me a chance to llok at there web site in the meen time i have wrote a strong letter to gas comepany and ive found a local address and see wat they r gonna say this has been going on for 8 weeks now so i think my patience has ran out with them lol |
