I'm trying to scan some photos to the computer so I can get prints of them (they are someone elses pix of Jamie). The scanner is picking out only the lighter parts of the picture (sky for example) and just copying that. On others it is just copying part of the pic - not the darker part at one side - so making it a funny shape. Any ideas please as I am going to chuck it thru the window in a min lol !! Maz. XX |

Are you sure that you are seeing just a part of the scanned pic. IF it is too big then maybe your scanner is only selecting a part of it. I dont know your scanner but you may be able to adjust the scan section - sounds a bit wierd otherwise. I aspose you cant send it to me till it is scanned ! lol When you put the pic in the scanner I hope that you select a 'frame' for it so that you can see it preveiwed ? and then scan - should come out as previewed. |

Can you check anywhere what your default settings are? I had problems with Dad's new scanner till I played with the default settings though it still saves everything as a massive .bmp file when i want them to be .jpg images. At first only got half the pic scanned but had to change it to fit to size or something like that i can't stand instruction manuals! Claire |

Joe I am just scanning normal sized photos. It is NOT an all-singing all-dancing scanner - the only options are scan to computer copy fax email ocr can't see anywhere to preview. It just scans it and brings it straight up in Photoshop LE. All it is bringing up on one is a strip of sky! Claire - I can see the settings button - what do I change to though?? Is it the normal/fine/superfine bit I need to do?? I am VERY dim so please make it extra simple!! Maz. XX |

it sounds like it's trying to scan a photo as a document you should have a setting somwhere to tell the scanner what type of thing you're scanning if it's thinks its a document like a letter it's not going to be a ssensitive to fluctuations in contrast and colours as it woudl if it thinks it's a photo |

hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sunds like a fault with the printer then is it the same area of the scanner bed that you're getting each time? i.e. always thepart of the picture which is in the top right? |

Are you putting the picture on the right corner of the scanner. There will be one corner where it says A4 and probably has an arrow - that is the corner where you should place your original photo if it is not A4 size - push it up neatly into this corner and try scanning. It may be that it is scanning the photo ok now but you have placed it in the wrong corner so it is only scanning part of the photo? Claire |
